Welcome to Daverdisse

Daverdisse (in Walloon Dåvdisse) is a French-speaking municipality of Belgium located in the Walloon Region in the province of Luxembourg, as well as a village that is part of it. This village, crossed by the Lesse River and surrounded by woods, is located in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes.

It includes four villages, which were independent municipalities before the 1977 merger: Daverdisse, Gembes, Haut-Fays (where the municipal seat is located) and Porcheresse.

Daverdisse (Dåvdisse)

Crossed by the majestic Lesse, the village is a green haven, surrounded by vast forests where roe deer, wild boar and birds reign supreme. 

Its traditional stone-and-slate architecture, its small winding lanes and its typical 18th-century church give the village an authentic, timeless charm.

The village, whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, has managed to preserve its old-world charm. Strolling through its narrow streets is a pleasure, with houses built from local stone that bear witness to a rich agricultural past. Saint-Hubert Church, with its imposing bell tower, watches over the village and its inhabitants.

Haut-Fays (Hôt-Fayi)

Haut-Fays, whose Walloon name is "Hôt-Fayi", takes its name from the Latin fagus, meaning "beech". This etymology, combined with the abundance of forests in the surrounding area, reveals the village’s deep identity, which is strongly connected to nature.

Porcheresse (Pwâtchrèsse)

Nestled between the valleys of the Almache and the Our, tributaries of the Lesse, Porcheresse is an Ardennes village that combines nature, history, and artisanal traditions. Its name, which dates back to 746, comes from the pig farms of the Merovingian estate of Graide, bearing witness to its agricultural past.
