The Altarpiece

The Daverdisse altarpiece is a polychrome altarpiece dating from the 16th century, located in the choir of the Church of Saint Peter in Daverdisse. Its style belongs to the final period of production of sculpted and polychrome Antwerp altarpieces.

It depicts scenes from the life of Christ and is associated with statues of Saint Peter, Saint Barbara, and Saint Catherine.

Originally, the altarpiece was located in the former chapel of the castle of the lords of Daverdisse. After the sale of the castle in 1831, it was transferred to the church.
