Porcheresse 14-18 : Balade Historique - 2km

August 1914: the First World War begins. German and French troops are fighting in the Battle of the Frontiers. The victorious Germans will occupy Belgium for 50 painful months for civilians. The village of Porcheresse is deliberately burned almost entirely during the night of August 22 to 23, 1914.

In 1915, the Luxembourg Relief and Food Committee built numerous small houses to rehouse the affected population. Most of these houses still exist today. This is considered the first major demonstration of international solidarity in history.

A guided tour of the route is available for groups of at least 10 people, and can be combined with a visit to the Clog Museum and/or the Water Pump.
