RAVeL and bike path to Neupont: 6 km

The tram line that once connected Wellin to Graide was created in 1908 and remained in operation until 1958. A small steam tram tirelessly traveled along it, throwing sparks all around and sometimes setting the brush on fire!

The Moulin de Daverdisse was a “banal” mill. It ceased operations in 1914. While the arrival of the tram was expected to bring new life to the establishment, its destiny took another turn, as the first guests began staying in the building in 1923.

Today, a section of the former tram line has been restored for the enjoyment of walkers. It is made up of three parts:

  • a bike path from Neupont to the former Redu station,
  • a RAVeL from the former Redu station to the Moulin de Daverdisse,
  • and finally a PICVerts (Green Municipal Route Plan) from the Moulin de Daverdisse to the Pont des Rives, a little before Porcheresse,
  • an extension to Graide-Station is planned (work scheduled to begin in summer 2019)

The Porcheresse–Daverdisse section crosses the Almache at the Pont de Fer and passes by the former Gembes station (located near the tennis court).

The Daverdisse–Neupont section crosses the Lesse at the Maria Footbridge and passes by the former Redu station, which has now become a hotel establishment called “Le Ry des Glands.” At the Maria Footbridge there is a swimming area as well as picnic tables and even free-access barbecues (bring grill racks).

The starting point in Neupont is on Rue Les Glaumonts.

In Porcheresse, the former tram line starts on Rue de la Croix d’Or, near the Pont des Rives.
